Track 1 or Download

Greetings, brethren! Welcome to Sabbath services! Today we're going to look at some of the plagues in the book of Revelation and see if we can fine tune it a little bit to see how it fits with the chart that we have with the Daniel/Revelation series, which is a 470 page study (Transcript Book). This will be a short addendum that will go in that series.

This calendar and probably a good explanation of what we're going through is in the Dan./Rev. series. In that I took a great deal more time to go through the numbers and so forth, so that might be better than what we're dealing with here today.

Let's look a part that we may make some adjustments. Let's look at the sequence of events. You might note that this calendar is based upon—beginning with the Day of Trumpets—as the first month in the calendar situation here. That's how the calendar is calculated.

Let's look at the Calculated Hebrew Calendar again and it can be used in Revelation #3 (in the series). The 13th year is a common year. What is #13 in the Bible? The number of rebellion! This is when the rebellion in the whole world is going to take place.

{Refer to Chart at: http://cbcg.org/images/rev_sheet-S2_art.png, or with Dan./Rev. series}

Year 16:

1367 days to Resurrection minus 32 days=1335 (Daniel talks about 1335 days).

That comes down to the resurrection because it says, 'Blessed is he who waits to the 1,335 days. That has to be the resurrection.

Then we have the King of the South pushing up against the King of the North, then the two witnesses begin. 1260 days to the resurrection + 3.5 days.

Then we have the King of the North—Adar 1 in the Middle East is the beginning of spring.

The King of the North comes down and conquers all of those countries real quickly.

Then we have Passover, 10th of Nisan, 4 days before Passover, 1290 days from Trumpets and the sacrifices cut off. Then the Great Tribulation begins right at this point.

Why? 2-Thess.—the Beast goes into the temple and says that he is 'God'! The Jews try to kill him, but he survives. What's going to happen after that?

2-Thessalonians 2:1: "Now, we beseech you, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him… [which will ultimately be the resurrection] …that you not be quickly shaken in mind, nor be troubled—neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by epistle, as if from us, saying that the day of Christ is present. Do not let anyone deceive you by any means because that day will not come unless the apostasy shall come first…" (vs 1-3). When does the apostasy begin? Year 13!

"…and the man of sin shall be revealed—the son of perdition" (v 3)—who is the Beast Power! He comes in the first three and a half years there's peace and they're unable to make war against him.

Verse 4: "The one who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God…" In the timeframe there's a space of time between v 3 and v4!

"…or that is an object of worship; so that he comes into the temple of God…" (v 4).

The Beast doesn't do that immediately; he conquers those countries and then comes into the Holy Land and stops the sacrifices. He receives the deadly wound, but recovers from it. It's perhaps by the anointing by the pope. Everyone is going to say that this is from God. Then, since the Jews brought this against him, what is his revenge?

"…he comes into the temple of God and sits down as God, proclaiming that he himself is God" (v 4).

That's all right there in the area after the Passover (refer to chart).

  • What happens then? At this point there are 'tidings out of the North and the East' (Dan. 11).
  • What's happening in the North and the East? We don't know! We will have to do a little analyzing and see where we can fit that in.

Verse 7: "For the mystery of lawlessness is already working; only there is One Who is restraining at the present time until it arises out of the midst. And then the lawless one will be revealed (whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth, and will destroy with the brightness of His coming)" (vs 7-8).

When does that occur? When they're thrown into the Lake of Fire!

Verse 9: "Even the one whose coming is according to the inner working of Satan, with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in those who are perishing because they did not receive the love of the Truth, so that they might be saved. And for this cause God will send upon them a powerful deception that will cause them to believe the lie" (vs 9-11).

What is the lie? The Beast is God! Now let's get a little timeframe on this:

Revelation 6:1: "And I looked when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures say, like the sound of thunder, 'Come and see.'"

The whole point of Rev. 5 is that nothing of the end-time is going to happen until Christ opens the seals.

Verse 2: "And I looked, and behold, there was a white horse; and the one who was sitting on it had a bow, and a crown was given to him; and he went out conquering, and to conquer."

I thought in the past that this might have been when Pope Paul I came with the Vatican ecumenical movement that they started with him. But I tend to think that that was way to soon for the first seal. But everything that is being done is leading up to the point where all religions will come together quite quickly. So, the first seal has not been opened!

Verse 3: "And when He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, 'Come and see.' And another horse went out that was red; and power was given to the one sitting on it to take peace from the earth…" (vs 3-4). Let's put this together with Rev. 13!

We know that the Beast begins his 42 months right here, after his wound. This begins with the second seal, the beginning of the 42 months.

Revelation 13:5: "And a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies was given to him; and authority was given to him to continue for forty-two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, and His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. And he was given power to make war against the saints, and to overcome them; and he was given authority over every tribe and language and nation" (vs 5-7)—worldwide government! Finally they're going to do it!

Verse 8: "And all who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world."

The second seal begins the Tribulation! How long is the Tribulation? Three and a half years! So, what do we have on the chart? Right smack in the middle of it, the beginning of it, these events come real quickly, all one right after the other!

{referring to chart}

Second seal is opened and the third seal is opened—42 months and so forth.

Once this comes out, the second beast

Revelation 6:4: "And another horse went out that was red; and power was given to the one sitting on it to take peace from the earth… [ties in with Rev. 13] …and to cause them to kill one another; and a great sword was given to him."

The third seal follows the pattern of every war. The third seal, the fourth seal, and then fifth seal is when the martyrdom of the saints takes place.

Verse 5: "And when He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, 'Come and see.' And I looked, and behold, there was a black horse; and the one sitting on it had a balance in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures say, 'A measure of wheat for a silver coin, and three measures of barley for a silver coin: and see that you do not damage the oil and the wine'" (vs 5-6)—the very basics of life! That's about all they're able to live on at that time.

Verse 7: "And when He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, 'Come and see.' And I looked, and behold, there was a pale horse; and the name of the one sitting on it was Death, and the grave followed him; and authority was given to them over one-fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword and with famine and with death, and by the beasts of the earth" (vs 7-8). That's quite a thing!

  • How long does this take?
  • Where do we find another time-marker so we can put it together?

As you look at the chart we have Year 17, and we have virtually not put anything in there. What should be in there—which will add on the new chart to come—are the things that Rev. 6 talks about. The war continuing over a fourth part of the earth. That takes quite a while!

  • What fourth part of the earth? We don't know!
  • Is this against Israel?
  • Is this against America basically speaking?
  • Don't know! But could very likely be.

We'll have to fill in here that these things probably occurred and drug out for quite a while with those seals.

The next place we come to with a reasonable knowledge of accuracy of timing. We have the fifth seal and the martyrdom of the saints. Then the sixth seal, and we will see why that that probably takes place about Pentecost.

Verse 12: "And when He opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as the hair of sackcloth, and the moon became as blood; and the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its untimely figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the heaven departed like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place" (vs 12-14). This is going to affect the whole earth!

Verse 15: "And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the powerful men, and every bondman, and every free man hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains; and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, 'Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him Who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, because the great day of His wrath has come, and who has the power to stand?'" (vs 15-17).

  • How long is a day in prophecy?
  • Do we have any timeframe that tells us when this will be?

Rev. 7—the sealing of the 144,000 and the great innumerable multitude. Hosea gives us a timeframe concerning when this possibly takes place. It seems to fit quite readily. God says that as He afflicted Israel and Ephraim:

Hosea 5:15: "I will go; I will return to My place until they confess their guilt and seek My face; in their affliction they will seek Me earnestly."

Notice how Hosea 6:1 flows right into it: "Come and let us return to the LORD, for He has torn, and He will heal us; He has smitten, and He will bind us up. After two days…" (vs 1-2)—two years; a day in prophecy is a year.

The first six seals have to do with those two years, because God lifts the Tribulation against Israel, but it continues against the rest of the world.

Verse 2: "After two days He will revive us; in the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight."

(referring to chart)

Year 18:

The sign of the Son of man an the sealing of the 144,000

How can we make a determination that the sealing of the 144,000 takes place on Pentecost. Let's look at some evidence and we'll see how that is.

  • What do we have in Rev. 2 & 3? Seven churches down through history!
  • How many weeks are there in counting to Pentecost? Seven!

We can use that as a pattern to show that the seven weeks is the salvation of the Church down through time. In Rev. 7 we have something special. When does that take place? Right after the sign of the Son of man appearing in heaven!

We have seven weeks of the harvest of God with the seven churches. Then we have on the next to the last Pentecost the special harvest of God, which is probably greater than all the seven churches, because you have the 144,000 and the great innumerable multitude. It's so important that everything comes to a seemingly screeching halt, because there comes the sign of the Son of man.

We know that in Matt. 24 that the sign of the Son of man is like the light of day—which is the sun—that shines from the east to the west. Here the heavens open up and all of a sudden here's the sign of the Son of man like a second sun. The whole world wonders what's going on.

But then after things calm down a little bit, and after the sealing of the 144,000 and great innumerable multitude, they get used to the second sun out there in the universe. How close to the earth we don't know what it will be, but plenty close enough that everybody can see it. That continues.

  • Rev. 7 is Pentecost
  • Rev. 8—the trumpet plagues

Remember, the seven trumpets are the only place in the Bible where you can count the 1st thru 7th trump. You can't count a trumpet any other way except with that, seven special ones! It starts with Trumpets and ends with Pentecost and the resurrection. Where the Trumpets are blown we don't know. We do have one timeframe, though. In Rev. 8 we have the blowing of the first four Trumpet Plagues and they come quite rapidly: one, two, three, four!

When we come to Rev. 8, remember that when the heavens are rolled back like a scroll, the whole earth suffers tremendous damage because every island is moved out its place. There's a great earthquake with a lot of damage. Then there's a sudden calm and the 144,000 and the great innumerable multitude are sealed.

Then we come to the trumpets. It's very likely that those start on the Feast of Trumpets. So, we have that space of time for the world to re-gather itself from all the trouble and difficulty.

When we come to Rev. 9 we find that there is the 5th and the 6th Trumpet Plague.

(referring to chart)

Year 18):

  • Sign of the Son of man
  • 6th seal opened
  • sealing of the 144,000 and great innumerable multitude

Then we have 3-1/2 months to Trumpets
Then we have the trumpet plagues blown

(bottom of chart):
the first 4 plagues come very quickly
then the 5th trumpet, which is the 1st woe

We may want to adjust our timing here just a little bit.

Revelation 9:1: "And the fifth angel sounded his trumpet; and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to the earth, and there was given to him the key to the bottomless abyss." The star is an angel, because a star cannot come down and open, so that's an angel!

Verse 2: "And he opened the bottomless abyss; and there went up smoke from the pit, like the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the pit. Then locusts came onto the earth from the smoke; and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was said to them that they should not damage the grass of the earth… [after it had been burned up previously it grew back] …or any green thing, or any tree… [remember a third had been burned up; all grass was burned up, a third of all trees and plants] …but only the men who did not have the seal of God in their foreheads" (vs 1-4).

So, the star is an angel. We don't know how fast they can go, but as they're streaking down in their glory to open the abyss then it would like a star falling.

With the scorpion five-month thing, v 5: "And it was given to them that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months; and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it stings a man."

Here's where we may need to make a little adjustment to the chart.

Verse 12: "The first woe is past. Behold, after these things two more woes are still to come. And the sixth angel sounded his trumpet; and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar that is before God; and it said to the sixth angel, who had the trumpet, 'Loose the four angels who are bound in the great River Euphrates.' Then the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were loosed, so that they might kill a third of men; and the number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred thousand thousand… [200-million] …and I heard the number of them" (vs 12-16).

Remember in Dan. 11 that the King of the North—the Beast—was troubled by tidings out of the North and the East! Could it be that the armies from the East were moving toward the Holy Land? They have about 3500 miles to go from the east coast of China to get to the Euphrates River. You're not going to do that all of a sudden. Could it be that these armies of the East were all gathered there at the River Euphrates and then the Beast Power released that scorpion plague that held them there for 5 months?

It seems logical that with the battle going on over in the West and Middle East that a lot of the armies would become toward the Middle East. So, could it be that we missed the point that these armies were gathered along the River Euphrates? Then came the scorpion sting for five months and they were immobilized. Then when the trumpet blew after the five months the River Euphrates opened up and they were able to cross.

You don't have much time. You look at it here on the last year of the chart.

Question: Was the falling star to open the abyss Satan? I don't think he has the key to it! It think it had to be a righteous angel to release, because if that were Satan maybe he would have opened it up sooner and got them out with a special weapon sooner.

Remember it says that Michael and his angels fought and the dragon and his angels fought, so I doubt that God would give the key to Satan to let the demons out. If that happened then God would not have the control that He really would need over it.

I'm sure that a righteous angel is going to bind him into the bottomless pit again, or the abyss (Rev. 20). We would have to assume that it is a righteous angel who unlocks it.

Revelation 12:7: "And there was war in heaven; Michael and his angels warred against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels warred. But they did not prevail, neither was their place found any more in heaven" (vs 7-8).

They had the ability to go before God. Isn't that what happened with Satan and Job. Satan came before God. Now they're totally cutoff completely.

What I think we probably need to consider and add it in there, because while the Beast Power was making war over one-fourth of the earth, it's very likely that the armies from the East began moving toward the Middle East and by the time the plague of the scorpions for five months comes, they're right there with the River Euphrates. Could it be that they're right there, and they're stuck there for five month—they can't advance any further—until that five month period is over.

Someone proposed that the fifth and sixth seals were simultaneous, but I don't think it could be simultaneous when it says of the fifth seal that it's five months, and men can't do anything for five months.

So, was that released because these armies were already advancing from the East and came to the River Euphrates. Then for five months they were stopped there. That make sense, because you've got 3500 miles for the armies to come. You've got to bring everything with it. You have bring the ammunition, the food, all of that. There are probably also ships coming around from the Asian countries into the Gulf of Aqaba and coming right into the Holy Land there.

I think that makes a little more sense and that would fill in a great portion of Year 17 and part of 18, and would probably show the very reason why that they had to have this plague of the scorpions and it worked for five months. Then you see what happened after that.

Revelation 9:17: "And so, I saw the horses in the vision, and those sitting on them, who had fiery breastplates, even like jacinth and brimstone. And the heads of the horses were like heads of lions, and fire and smoke and brimstone shoot out of their mouths"

Verse 19: For their power is in their mouths; for their tails are like serpents, and have heads, and with them they inflict wounds. But the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the works of their hands that they might not worship demons, and idols of gold and silver and brass and stone and wood, which do not have the power to see, nor to hear, nor to walk. And they did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornications, nor of their thievery" (vs 19-21).

This makes more sense that that battle got very intense once that plague of the scorpions was lifted.

Now then, we have the seven thunders. We don't know what the seven thunders are. Never told and we don't know, but we do know that that leads up to the seven trumpet, which is the first resurrection.

With all the saints on the Sea of Glass there, from Pentecost to Trumpets what happens in that time period? The seven last plagues! We find that they all are gathered:

Revelation 16:10: "And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the throne of the beast; and his kingdom became full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain, and blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores; yet, they did not repent of their works. And the sixth angel poured out his vial into the great river Euphrates…" (vs 10-12)—because it was dried up and the armies came across!

And again the waters came down. So, for the rest of the armies to come, they have to dry it up again.

"…and its waters were dried up, so that the way of the kings from the rising of the sun might be prepared. Then I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet; for they are spirits of demons working miracles, going forth to the kings of the earth, even of the whole world, to gather them together to the battle of that great day of the Almighty God" (vs 12-14).

Here they come! The last bit! This is something! This is going to be such a devastating thing! This is the earth we're going to inherit! Think about all the problems that we're going to have to solve when we come back from the Sea of Glass.

This is quite a thing! I think what we have with the Daniel/Revelation series, it would be a good idea to add in there that these armies of the East came as far as the River Euphrates and then the five months of torment came upon them. Then after that the River Euphrates was dried up and here they come.

Think about it for a minute. What does say about what Israel does after the Millennium begins and the final battle with the rest of the armies? That's called the Valley of Gog and Magog! They are seven years getting the bones up. This is going to be a battle between the fifth trumpet and the sixth trumpet, and then the seven plagues, and the last two there are going to be so many people killed it's going to be something.

Yet, they're going to be there to try and fight the return of the saints and Christ to the earth! So, that's the earth we're going to inherit! But I think I will modify this chart and take care of a couple of things on the other side and add that to the Daniel/Revelation series.
