2017 Feast of Tabernacles and Last Great Day

Thursday, October 5, through Thursday, October 12

pdficon small - Print Version

Dear Brethren,

Here is the information packet for the 2017 Feast of Tabernacles. Listed below are the major Feast sites. In addition to these, there will be many smaller sites scattered across the USA. As we have grown in recent years, we have increased the number of Feast sites. Every year we have sites closer and closer to where the brethren live—so that travel to the Feast is more convenient.

Please carefully follow the packet instructions. Each person is responsible for making his or her own reservations. In all locations, please mention that you are with the Christian Biblical Church of God, because in most cases we have been given special rates.

We need your help: Over the years it has been our policy to let people attend the Feast wherever they desired—and to change their minds as need be. Some even wait until a few days before the opening night of the Feast before making housing reservations. However, such late decisions make planning most difficult. Please let us know where you will attend as soon as possible so we can fulfill our contractual obligations of guaranteed minimums.

Please be sure to return the Feast Information Form (last page) as soon as possible.

Remember that the Feasts of God are as important as the weekly Sabbath. Through keeping them year by year, we are able to learn and understand more about God’s plan as revealed in the Bible. May God bless you in every way and make this year’s Feast the best ever for you and your family!

With love in Christ Jesus,

Fred R. Coulter

Destin, Florida

The Sundestin Beach Resort

1040 Highway 98 East • Destin, FL 32541

We are thankful to announce that the Sundestin Beach Resort will host the Christian Biblical Church of God’s Feast of Tabernacles for 2017.

Located on the beautiful white sands of the Gulf of Mexico, the Sundestin Resort offers condominium lodging with all the amenities and conveniences of an upscale hotel. The resort features beach-front condos, indoor and outdoor pools, the Endless Summer Grill Restaurant and Bar, a fitness room, complimentary wireless Internet, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a sauna, a steam room—and a very nice, private conference facility where services will be held.

This time of year in Destin the weather is fantastic and the summer crowds have diminished to allow a pleasant opportunity to enjoy the Gulf and the associated attractions.

Services will be at the Sundestin Beach Resort. There is a Wendy’s directly across the street from the Resort. The following Web site will provide a detailed map (click on reservations). There are also pictures and more details about the resort: www.wyndhamvacationrentals.com/vacation-rentals/florida/northwest-florida/destin/complex/sundestin-beach-resort.

Beginning October 5, all services are at 10:00 AM.

Please call the Festival host concerning opening night services: (931) 205-2459.

For those staying at the Sundestin Beach Resort, reservations can be made by calling 1-800-380-4808. Tell them you are with the CBCG; the group rate code is S1115.

Advance payment by credit card will be 20% of the total. The remaining balance will be due 30 days prior to arrival. If you have any problems or questions, call the Festival host.

We recommend staying at the Sundestin. Not only are the condos clean, attractive, and comfortable, but the Resort has afforded us very reasonable rates for the conference room.

Additional motels with reasonable rates are located close by. For options, visit: www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g34182-Destin_Florida-Hotels.html.

One other option would be to go online to VRBO (Vacation Rentals by Owners) to rent directly from owners. This time of year is not the prime season and you can usually negotiate very reasonable rates. See: www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/florida/north-west/destin.

Opportunities to serve: We are looking for assistance with Video/Sound, Piano, and Special Music. Please call or e-mail prior to the Feast if you can help.

Kalispell, Montana

Hampton Inn

1140 Highway 2 West • Kalispell, MT 59901

www.hamptoninnkalispell.com • (406) 755-7900

The Feast will again be held in Kalispell at the Hampton Inn in the very comfortable and accessible Springcreek Conference Room. We will have evening services at 7 PM on October 4, and services for the first day of the Feast (Oct. 5) will begin at 10:30 AM. You can expect spiritually uplifting messages throughout the 8-day festival.

Kalispell is a gorgeous place for families and individuals to observe the Feast. The average daily temperature this time of year should be in the 70s. The city of Kalispell is in the heart of Montana’s Rocky Mountains. Centrally located in the Flathead Valley, this Feast site is surrounded by 360-degree views of Glacier National Park and the Whitefish, Swan, and Mission Ranges. The area’s sparkling jewel, Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, is only 15 minutes from the site. Flathead River is known for its prime fishing.

Kalispell embodies the spirit of the West and was founded in 1891 by railroad builder James J. Hill and businessman and banker Charles Conrad as the Great Northern Railways’ division point on its route from St. Paul to Seattle.

Glacier Park International Airport offers direct flights to and from eight major hubs.

Widely known as the Crown of the Continent, the rugged grandeur of Glacier National Park is just a half-hour drive from the Feast site and is home to hundreds of miles of hiking trails and beautiful vistas. Glacier comprises 1600 square miles and reaches 10,466 feet at the summit of Mount Cleveland. The Going-to-the-Sun road is one of the most spectacular drives in the world. We plan to set aside an afternoon as Glacier Park Day to enjoy this beautiful park together—its wildlife, beautiful fall foliage, and awe-inspiring mountains and waters.

The church has negotiated the rate of $89 (plus local bed tax) per night for standard guest rooms with two queen or king beds at the Hampton Inn. Each room has a coffee maker, refrigerator, and a flat-screen TV. When making reservations, please let them know you are with the CBCG to receive this rate—www.hamptoninnkalispell.com or (406) 755-7900).

Hampton Inn is part of the Hilton chain and the accommodations are very comfortable. There is a 24-hour indoor pool and hot tub as well as a 24-hour exercise facility. Enjoy a free hot breakfast with fresh waffles and turkey sausage every morning, as well as evening coffee and cookies. The Hampton features a business center with high-speed wireless Internet, a gift shop, and a coin-op laundry. Also, a 24-hour airport/local area shuttle is offered by the Hampton.

We plan to have a Glacier Park Day, Youth Day, Museum Tours, Pizza and Swimming, as well as a Game/Fellowship Evening and a Variety Show. Please come prepared to share your talent! There are excellent places to eat, shop, and recreate—or just relax within close proximity.

If you are interested in participating in the Feast choir, youth choir, special music, or can serve in another capacity, please contact John and Hiedi Vogele, festival coordinators, at (406) 266-9988. Also, you may go to www.feastoftabernaclesfestival.com to check the schedule and get more information on the area.

(626) 792-1363 • www.ihg.com

This year, we are pleased to be able to hold the Feast in Pasadena, home of the Rose Parade, on historic Route 66. Services will be held at the Holiday Inn Express, in the Sierra Room (at street level). Opening message at 7 PM on Oct. 4. Services will be daily at 10 AM.

Points of interest include JPL, Norton Simon Museum, Huntington Library (Gutenberg Bible, Pinky, Blue Boy), Descanso Gardens, hiking off Angeles Crest Hwy. or Eaton Canyon, Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Legoland, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Universal Studios Theme Parks, Raging Waters, Getty Museum, Griffith Observatory, Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, Aquarium of the Pacific, La Brea Tar Pits, Peterson Automotive Museum, Autry Museum, and Star Tours—among many other attractions!

Day trips may include Laguna Beach, Ojai, Queen Mary, Temecula (hot air ballooning), San Juan Capistrano, Santa Barbara, Joshua Tree, Palm Springs (outlet shopping), and Big Bear.

The negotiated CBCG rate at the Holiday Inn Express will be around $185 per night plus tax. Other area hotels can be secured for less. Simply Google Pasadena Hotels or search VRBO.com, rentbyowner.com, owler.com, or other competitors for pet-friendly homes for rent. The tax rate on accommodations in California is 12%, but some hotels may charge an extra .3% to .4% based on local taxes. The closest airports are Burbank, LAX, and Ontario.

If there is enough interest, perhaps we can reschedule services to the evening one day to accommodate a day trip—to the beach, for example, or anything else. The best dates for this would be Oct. 9-11. Additionally, based on interest, we may put on a fun show where members can entertain brethren with their songs, skills, wit, and poetry.

For information or questions, please call Byron or Cathy Norrod at (626) 398-5776.

Greetings from Malaysia! We will have a Feast site this year in Penang.

Penang Island, the most populous island city in Malaysia, is in the state of Penang. With a population of 738,500, it is the second largest city in Malaysia (by population). Its capital, George Town, is one of the oldest cities in Malaysia and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008.

Logistically, Penang Island is well-connected. The Penang International Airport is one of the busiest in Malaysia, with links to major regional cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Taipei, and Hong Kong. The port of Penang serves as the main harbor for northern Malaysia, with connections to over 200 ports worldwide. Penang Island is connected to the rest of Malaysia by the Penang Bridge and ferry service.

Long regarded as the food capital of Malaysia, Penang Island is renowned for its varied street food blending Malay, Chinese, Indian, Thai, and European influences. In fact, the Island was named as one of Asia’s top street food cities by CNN, and Time acclaimed Penang as having the best street food in Asia.
