Good evening, everyone! It's good to be able to speak to everyone and have the opportunity to bring this message.

God's return in imminent, He will be returning soon. He tells us to be urgent and be aware that His plan is according to schedule, nothing delayed, according to God's plan. We should always be watching and preparing for His return.

I want to start this lesson in Rev. 1 and let's take a look at the setting. God's people, through the Apostle John, were given specific instruction and asked us to be aware.

Revelation 1:1: "The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to Him, to show to His servants the things that are ordained tocome to pass shortly; and He made it known, having sent it by His angel to His servant John who gave witness to the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ, and all the things he saw. Blessed is the one who reads, and those who hear the words of this prophecy and who keep the things that are written therein; for the time is at hand" (vs 1-3).

Verse 4: "John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace and peace be to you from Him Who is, and Who was, and Who is to come; and from the seven spirits that are before His throne; and from Jesus Christ, the faithful Witness, the Firstborn from the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him Who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to God and His Father; to Him be the glory and the sovereignty into the ages of eternity. Amen. Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye shall see Him, and those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen. 'I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending,' says the Lord, 'Who is, and Who was, and Who is to come—the Almighty'" (vs 4-8).

Even at the beginning at the book of Revelation, having it revealed to us, we take heart and comfort in those words that He is—Jesus Christ—sitting at the right hand of the Father. That He will return as He promised and the Kingdom of God will be established. We, a firstfruits of God—the elect of God—will be a part of that resurrection. A part of that great and grand designed plan!

We are instructed by God in many Scriptures in the Bible to hold onto:

  • that Truth
  • that Gospel
  • that Faith
  • that Belief

Revelation 22:10: "And he… [an angel] …said to me, 'Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book because the time is near.' Let the one who is unrighteous be unrighteous still; and let the one who is filthy be filthy still; and let the one who is righteous be righteous still; and let the one who is Holy be Holy still" (vs 10-11).

Verse 12—Jesus speaking: "And behold, I am coming quickly; and My reward is with Me, to render to each one according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. Blessed are those who keep His commandments, that they may have the right to eat of the Tree of Life, and may enter by the gates into the city. But excluded are dogs, and sorcerers, and fornicators, and murderers, and idolaters, and everyone who loves and devises a lie. I, Jesus, sent My angel to testify these things to you in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright and morning star" (vs 12-16).

Verse 17: "And the Spirit and the Bride say, 'Come.' And let the one who hears say, 'Come.' And let the one who thirsts come; and let the one who desires partake of the water of life freely. For I jointly testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, that if anyone adds to these things, God shall add to him the plagues that are written in this book. And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, and from the Holy City, and from the things that are written in this book. He Who testifies these things says, 'Surely, I am coming quickly.' Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen" (vs 17-21). These words are:

  • to inspire us
  • to inform us
  • to encourage us
  • to warn us

So that we can hold onto the Truths that have been given to us by God!

2-Timothy 4:1:" I charge you, therefore, in the sight of God, even the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is ready to judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His Kingdom: Preach the Word! Be urgent in season and out of season; convict, rebuke, encourage, with all patience and doctrine. For there shall come a time when they will not tolerate sound doctrine; but according to their own lusts they shall accumulate to themselves a great number of teachers, having ears itching to hear what satisfies their cravings; and they shall turn away their own ears from the Truth; and they shall be turned aside unto myths" (vs 1-4).

We know of what's prophesied to occur in the end-time. We know that there will be assaults:

  • against God's Church
  • against God's people
  • against the Truth
  • against the Word of God

And if it were possible they would deceive the very elect of God!God is giving us warning to be aware of that, to be conscious of that.

Those who fall victim because they were not properly prepared, not properly filled with the Spirit of God, as exemplified by the oil in the lamps. They're subject to being deceived by Satan the devil.

Let's take a look at this state of total confusion and deception that occurred during the time of Jeremiah. Let's see the state of things and how things were at the time of Jeremiah when he wrote this:

Jeremiah 10:1: "Hear the word, which the LORD speaks to you, O house of Israel. Thus says the LORD, 'Do not learn the way of the heathen, and do not be terrified at the signs of the heavens; for the nations are terrified at them. For the customs of the people are vain; for one cuts a tree out of the forest with the axe, the work of the hands of the workman. They adorn it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and hammers, so that it will not move. They upright like the palm tree, but cannot speak. They must surely be carried because they cannot walk. Do not be afraid of them; for they cannot do evil nor good, for it is not in them.'" (vs 1-5).

Verse 6—Jeremiah speaking: "Therefore, there is none like You, O LORD; You are great, and Your name is great in might. Who would not fear You, O King of nations? For fear belongs to You because among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like You. But they are altogether foolish and animal-like; the tree is a doctrine of vanities. Silver beaten into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the goldsmith. Violet and purple are their clothing; they are all the work of skillful ones" (vs 6-9).

Verse 10: "But the LORD is the true God, He is the living God, and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to stand His fury. Thus you shall say to them, 'The gods who have not made the heavens and the earth, they shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens.' He has made the earth by His power; He has established the world by His wisdom, and has stretched out the heavens by His judgment. When He utters His voice, there is a noise of a multitude of waters in the heavens. 'He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightnings with rain, and brings forth the wind out of His treasures.'" (vs 10-13).

Verse 14: "Every man is stupid for lack of knowledge; every refiner is put to shame by the graven image; for his molten image is a lie, and there is no breath in them. They are vanity, the work of delusion; in the time of their judgment they shall perish. The Portion of Jacob is not like them; for He is the Maker of all things; and Israel is the tribe of His inheritance; the LORD of hosts is His name. Gather up your bundle from the ground, you who live in the siege" (vs 14-17).

Verse 18: "For thus says the LORD, 'Behold, I will sling out the people of the land at this time, and will distress them, so that they may find Me.' Woe to me because of my injury! My wound is grievous; but I said, 'Truly this is a malady, and I must bear it.'" (vs 18-19).

Verse 20: "My tabernacle is ravaged, and all my cords are broken; My sons went away from me, and they are not. There is none to stretch out My tabernacle any more, and to set up My curtains. For the pastors have become stupid, and have not sought the LORD, therefore, they shall not be blessed, and all their flocks shall be scattered" (vs 20-21).

Verse 22: "Behold, the noise of the rumor has come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a den of jackals. O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his steps. O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing. Pour out Your fury on the nations who do not know You, and on the families who do not call on Your name; for they have eaten up Jacob and have devoured him, and have destroyed him, and have made his dwelling desolate" (vs 22-25).

These Scriptures really reveal the state of society in many ways today. We are confronted with a world that has rejected the true God. There is still the majority of mankind that walks on the earth that believe in the lies, who worship things that are not Truth. They are vanities, but we have put our hope and we believe that we are called by the one and only true God Who resides in the heavens.

He opened our mind to understand His Truth, and we have desired to walk in His ways. We are committed to walk in His ways and to abide by His precepts, all in the hope of the promise that this fleshly body that we currently dwell in will be changed. Whether it's at the twinkling of an eye at the resurrection or that we are called from our sleep. We believe and our hope is in the promises of God!

In the end-time when we're confronted by a number of difficulties and trials… I know that even now in different parts of the world individuals are confronted—Christians are persecuted and put upon—by society. In the end-time when God starts to intervene directly into the affairs of men and nations:

Daniel 12:1: "And at that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince who stands for the children of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even until that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered—everyone who shall be found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament, and they who turn many to righteousness shall shine as the stars forever and ever" (vs 1-3).

We look forward to this time. We want to be counted in that number!

Dan. 3—This is the example of King Nebuchadnezzar where he challenged the captives of Judah—Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego—to worship his idol. This king—one of the most powerful of his time—stated a word and it would be carried out instantly.

Daniel 3:10: "You, O king, have made a decree that every man who shall hear the sound of the horn, the pipe, zither, the lyre, harp, and the bagpipe, and all kinds of music shall fall down and worship the golden image." We can compare this to the mark of the beast!

Verse 11: "And whoever does not fall down and worship, he should be thrown into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. There are certain Jews… [reported to Nebuchadnezzar] …whom you have set over the business of the province of Babylon; Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. These men, O king, do not heed you. They do not serve your gods nor worship the golden image which you have set up" (vs 11-12).

Verse 13: "Then Nebuchadnezzar in rage and fury commanded them to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. Then they brought these men before the king. Nebuchadnezzar spoke and said to them, 'Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego that you do not serve my gods nor worship the golden image which I have set up?'" (vs 13-14). Then he gives them an opportunity to come their senses. He says:

Verse 15: "Now, if you are ready, at the time you hear the sound of the horn, the pipe, zither, the lyre, harp, and bagpipe, and all kinds of music fall down and worship the image, which I have made. But if you do not worship immediately, you shall be thrown into the middle of a burning fiery furnace. And who is that god who shall deliver you out of my hand?"

The answer, the response that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego gave him is what we need to remember:

Verse 16: "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, 'O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer a word to you on this matter. If that is the case, our God Whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods nor worship the golden image which you have set up.'" (vs 16-18).

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego had a faith. They believed in God's promises. They were close to God in daily prayer, study, meditation, and they recognized that God would deliver them.

In the end-times that we live in, we're going to be challenged in ways that we will have to step up and hold onto God's promises recognizing that even death can't separate us from God's love.

Those who are standing ready to receive Christ, and even in this life if our day of judgment is to come before the return of Christ. If we are confronted in our latter years—we recognize that our day may be now—that we will be able to face anything in a calm peace and assurance that we stand with God. That our relationship with God is strong, and that our commitment is strong. Let's read what is says about what we need to be doing to have that type of confidence.

Ephesians 6:10: "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the might of His strength. Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, because we are not wrestling against flesh and blood, but against principalities and against powers…" (vs 10-12).

I know that when we encounter things in our daily lives, we are cognizance of the fact that Satan throws his arrows at us. He puts stumbling stones in front of us. He attacks in so many different ways spiritually and physically.

"…against the world rulers of the darkness of this age, against the spiritual power of wickednessin high places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God so that you may be able to resist in the evil day… [whether current or in the future, whenever we come against such things] …and having worked out all things, to stand. Stand, therefore, having your loins girded about with Truth…" (vs 12-14).

We know as a Church that we were called to the Truth and have dedicated our life since baptism to searching out Truth; study and understanding the Truths of God.

"…and wearing the breastplate of righteousness… [the righteousness of Christ] …and having your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace. Besides all these, take up the shield of the faith, with which you will have the power to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one; and put on the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God; praying at all times… [prayer is very critical to our spiritual life and our walk with God] …with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and in this very thing being watchful with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints" (vs 14-18).

Paul goes on to state, v 19: "And for me, that boldness of speech may be given to me so that I may open my mouth to make known the mystery of the Gospel."

We are a part of that process in the support of God's work, the preaching, and making available the resources so that the world will have an opportunity to have access to this Truth. That's through:

  • the website {truthofGod.org}
  • Church at Home {churchathome.org}
  • all the books and publications

We pray for the work of God; we are involved in the work of God. God is blessing His work in this end-time so that the Gospel can be preached.

As Paul says, so are we, v 20: "For which I am an ambassador in chains…" He was in prison for preaching the Truth. We currently have a time of relative peace. We're able to preach the Gospel—at least here in the United States—without hindrance. Although, there are the forces that even now seek to undermine the ability to do that.

"…that I may speak with boldness, as it behooves me to speak" (v 20). God inspires this!

Let's look at each aspect of what we need to be focused on now, as we prepare for the return of Christ, and to have that confidence to stand and to endure and overcome all the forces that may come against us!

We spoke about having the Truth firmly fixed in our mind as very important in our walk with God. There are many, many lies out there. The world doesn't see it as a lie, but in truth, it utterly a false notion: the various aspects of worship that the world embraces.

Romans 2:1: "Therefore, you are without excuse, O man, everyone who judges another; for in that in which you judge the other, you are condemning your own self; for you who judge another are doing the same things. But we know that the judgment of God is according to Truth upon those who commit such things" (vs 1-2).

Those who practice lies, some do it knowing what the truth is, but others do it out of ignorance. But God's judgment is "…according to Truth upon those who commit such things."

Verse 3: "Now, do you think yourself, O man, whoever is judging those who commit such things, and you are practicing them yourself, that you shall escape the judgment of God? Or do you despise the riches of His kindness and forbearance and long-suffering, not knowing that the graciousness of God leads you to repentance? But you, according to your own hardness and unrepentant heart, are storing up wrath for yourself against the day of wrath and revelation of God's righteous judgment, Who will render to each one according to his own works: on the one hand, to those who with patient endurance in good works are seeking glory and honor and immortality—eternal life; on the other hand, to those who are contentious and who disobey the Truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish—upon every soul of man who works out evil, both of the Jew first, and of the Greek; but glory and honor and peace to everyone who works good, both to the Jew first, and to the Greek, because there is no respect of persons with God" (vs 3-11).

So, we see that there is a way that we are to hold onto, based on Truth. It also talks about righteousness, and that Truth leads us to righteousness.

Verse 5: "But you, according to your own hardness and unrepentant heart, are storing up wrath for yourself against the day of wrath and revelation of God's righteous judgment."

Verse 8: "On the other hand, to those who are contentious and who disobey the Truth, but obey unrighteousness…"

God seeks righteousness, which is equated to God example: walking in His precepts, ways, statutes, laws and commandments. Again, according to righteousness.

The Gospel of God is good news. When it was revealed to me that God had a plan for man, and I came to understand the principles, I did receive some incredible revelation for me. I remember my reaction. I was laying in bed studying that night in my dormitory room, and I jumped up out of bed and opened the window and looked into the heavens and said, 'Oh, that's what all those stars are up there for.'

God has an incredible plan for us! The Gospel is a not only a Gospel about the Kingdom of God, but about His Son, His Spirit.

Acts 10:34: "Then Peter opened his mouth and said, 'Of a truth I perceive that God is not a respecter of persons, but in every nation the one who fears Him and works righteousness is acceptable to Him…. [God is a God of righteousness] …The word that He sent to the children of Israel, preaching the Gospel of peace through Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all)'" (vs 34-36).

He is the God Who made all things. Yes, He is the Lord of all, and in the end every nation shall know this. The way that He returns will be powerful, it will get attention!

Verse 37: "You have knowledge of; which declaration came throughout the whole of Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism that  John proclaimed concerning Jesus, Who was from Nazareth: how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him. And we are witnesses of all the things that He did, both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed Him by hanging Him on a tree. But God raised Him up the third day, and showed Him openly, not to all the people, but to witnesses who had been chosen before by God, to those of us who did eat and drink with Him after He had risen from the dead. And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to fully testify that it is He Who has been appointed by God to be Judge of the living and the dead" (vs 37-42).

Romans 10:8: "But what does it say? 'The Word is near to you, in your mouth and in your heart.' This is the Word of faith that we are proclaiming that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation, because the Scripture says, 'Everyone who believes in Him shall not be ashamed'" (vs 8-11).

The Gospel is a message about what God is doing in our lives. God also expects us to have faith, that faith is required to have the confidence to stand. You have faith in God's promises, God's Word, in God! We are to exercise faith in our relationship with God.

Revelation 13:10: "If anyone gathers into captivity, he shall go into captivity. If anyone kills with the sword, he must be killed with the sword. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints."

God's Church—His elect—will need faith in the end-time in order to endure some of the things that we will encounter. We need faith today to walk before God and to trust Him:

  • to intervene for us
  • to keep us safe
  • to provide for our needs
  • to guide His work
  • to be with our families

That trust is always there!

As things get difficult in our lives—as we approach the return of Christ—we have to have this confidence and faith that God is there, that He will intervene on our behalf, and that we are important to Him.

Luke 18:7: "And shall not God execute vengeance for His elect, who cry out to Him day and night, and patiently watch over them? I tell you that He will execute vengeance for them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man comes, shall He find the true faith on the earth?" (vs 7-8).

That faith that we need is to believe and trust in God's Word, His promises, to know that He is and that He cares about us. He loves us and no matter what we encounter that we can cry out to Him and call upon Him. We have to have God in our lives all the time. We don't just call on God in the moment of trouble and then ignore Him all the rest of the time. We carry God with us. We have been admonished always prayer and Bible study, that it's important not to leave home in the morning without taking time to pray and communicate with God. Being in a prayerful attitude all day long is very important as well! That faith leads us to that!

Ultimately we are looking for the salvation that God has promised. Isaiah spoke quite a bit about salvation.

Isaiah 49:6: "He [God] said, 'It is but a little thing that You should be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to bring back the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You for a light to the nations, to be My salvation to the end of the earth."'"

Verse 8: "Thus says the LORD, 'In a favorable time I have answered You, and in a day of salvation I have helped You; and I will preserve You, and give You for a covenant of the people, to restore the earth, to cause them to inherit the wasted inheritances.'"

Revelation 7:10: "And they were calling out with a loud voice to Him Who sits on the throne and to the Lamb, saying, 'The salvation of our God has come.'"

Yes, salvation will be made available to God's people.

Revelation 12:9: "And the great dragon was cast out, the ancient serpent who is called the Devil and Satan, who is deceiving the whole world; he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him. And I heard a great voice in heaven say, 'Now has come the salvation and the power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ because the accuser of our brethren has been cast down, who accuses them day and night before our God. But they overcame him through the blood of the Lamb, and through the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto death" (vs 9-11).

God's salvation is a promise, something we can hold onto and look forward to. All of this is culminated in the Word of God. We know that we are truly blessed and the ultimate demonstration of grace in our lives to have the Word of God available to us, the complete Word of God.

If we don't use it and take advantage of the opportunity today while there is opportunity to study His Word in the peace that we have, we're losing out on a very precious period of time to do that. We should be urgent and diligent about God's business:

  • learning His Word
  • applying His Word
  • teaching His Word to our loved ones and the brethren

John 1:1: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and not even one thing that was created came into being without Him. In Him was life, and the Life was the Light of men. And the Light shines in the darkness, but the darkness does not comprehend it" (vs 1-5).

Then it introduces the work that John the Baptist did in preparing the way before Him.

John 14:23: "Jesus answered and said to him, 'If anyone loves Me, he will keep My Word…"

It's very important that we are applying God's Word in our life. That we are not turning a deaf ear to it, but we are truly embracing it and applying it in our lives.

"…and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. The one who does not love Me does not keep My words, and the Word that you hear is not Mine, but the Father's, Who sent Me" (vs 23-24).

If we are not embracing God's Word, we are rejecting not only Christ but God the Father Himself, because He's the Author of it. All of those precepts that are described in Eph. 6, describe the condition we need to be embracing to have the confidence to stand at Christ's return.

I want to encourage everyone to think about that. What I would ask you to do is at the beginning of each of the Epistles just read the introductory portions of it—James, Peter, John, Jude, Titus—and you will find that all of these things that I described:

  • having a strong commitment to Truth
  • seeking righteousness in our lives
  • embracing the Gospel
  • helping to preach the Gospel
  • asking God for His faith
  • putting our hope in the salvation that's promised to us
  • searching out God's Word for His Truth

Always praying to God for His involvement in our lives and the lives of the brethren for His work in a constant state of prayer:

  • supplications on behalf of the brethren
  • petitioning God for His healing of His people
  • being watchful
  • watching world events

Not fearful, because we know that God is on His Throne. God will intervene and His Kingdom, His plan, will be fulfilled. Persevering and not giving up and not letting anyone coming in trying to deceive us. By doing those things we maintain a close walk with God, and we're able to hold on.

Revelation 16:17: "Then the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, 'IT IS FINISHED.' And there were voices and thunders and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were on the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts; and the cities of the nations fell…" (vs 17-19).

Verse 5: "Then I heard the angel of the waters say, 'You are righteous, O Lord, Who are, and Who was, even the Holy One, in that You have executed this judgment. For they have poured out the blood of saints and of prophets, and You have given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.' And I heard another voice from the altar say, 'Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.'" (vs 5-7).

Revelation 22:17: "And the Spirit and the Bride say, 'Come.' And let the one who hears say, 'Come.' And let the one who thirsts come; and let the one who desires partake of the water of life freely.

Brethren, we too—with a firm anticipation, hope and desire—look forward to the day that Christ will appear. If we are alive we look forward to the quickening as a blink of our eyes. If we have gone to our place of safety and are asleep, we will hear the call and awake and join Christ on the Sea of Glass as part of the resurrected Family of God!
