Bruce Bird—November 22, 2025

In 1-Thessalonians 5:21[transcriber’s correction], it says: “Prove all things. Hold fast to that which is good.”

There’s one thing all professing Christian churches have in common is a belief in God. We believe that God exists, and that’s a given. But the question is:

  • Can we prove it?

  • Does God exist?

  • How do we know?

It’s a pretty basic subject. But there is a lot of confusion out there, as you well know. In Christianity, for example, there’s:

  • the rapture

  • the immortality of the soul

  • heaven or hell at death

  • the Trinity

  • Christmas

  • Easter

  • Sunday

  • Valentine’s Day

  • Halloween

  • Groundhog Day

  • Mardi Gras

  • atheists claim there is no God

  • agnostics claim it’s impossible to know

  • most ‘informed’ theologians suggest we must take God’s existence on blind faith

  • we can’t know

But is that so?

Psalms 14:1: “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God!’ They are corrupt; they have done abominable works, there is none who does good.”

Psalms 53:1 says the same thing: “ The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, and have worked out abominable wickedness; there is no one who does good.”

God does exist, and it is provable!

Romans 1:21: “Because when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but they became vain in their own reasonings, and their foolish hearts were darkened. While professing themselves to be the wise ones, they became fools and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed creatures, and creeping things” (vs 21-23).

When you see old documentaries of old stone ruins, they’ve always got leering gargoyles and snakes coiled around things. The Vatican has a lot of that, too.

So God exists, and He is provable!

Now, atheists debunk the Bible; they claim it’s written by men[transcriber’s correction].

  • Who wrote the books on evolution? Man!

  • Was the Bible inspired by God? Yes!

  • Were the evolutionary books inspired by God? No, not at all!

Freud termed belief in God ‘a form of mental disorder’ that mankind would eventually grow out of, given enough time.

How do we prove the existence of God? Well, #1 is the creation demands a Creator! Gen. 1 has a lot to say about that. The theory of evolution postulates that the earth came into existence slowly over eons of time, or that it always existed.

But cosmology studies demonstrate and prove there is no past eternity of matter!

Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” (vs 1-2).

So, we’re talking about a massive reboot here of the original Flood of Gen. 1. Later on, there’s the Flood of Noah’s time, so there are two floods. But there’s a talking about a massive reboot here. It’s a very basic bit. It does not say when. It doesn’t say, that was in 4800B.C. or something. It’d be nice if it did, but it doesn’t.

Job 38:7: “When the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

When they looked at the creation that God had laid out, they shouted for joy. What a joyful sight that would be. Both Bible and science clearly state there is no past eternity of physical matter as Job 38 describes.

There’s the law of thermodynamics states the amount of energy in a known system remains constant. And the second law states the amount of usable energy in a closed system is decreasing.

So, in other words, it’s running down, and there is no past eternity of matter. Because in 1898, Madam Currie discovered radium. And radium is the end product of uranium, which eventually decomposes into lead. Therefore, if there was billions of light years of time in the past, we’d have no uranium, no radium, it would all be lead. And that’s not the case!

  1. CREATION DEMANDS A CREATOR

IF Revelation 4:11 is right: “Worthy are You, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power because You did create all things, and for Your will they were created and exist.

Therefore, matter must have at some time come into existence. Creation, then, the very existence of things, absolutely demands a Creator. Creation demands a Creator!

  1. LIFE DEMANDS A LIFE-GIVER

Evolutionists suggest that life formed spontaneously billions of years ago from nothing, from zip. IF you can believe that, brethren, you can believe that an explosion in a massive automotive wrecking yard, just go BOOM! and suddenly there’s:

  • transmissions

  • differentials

  • vehicles

  • brake rotors

  • hubcaps

  • windshields

  • hoods

  • frames

flying through the air! Then they come back down, and then the dust slowly settles, and the hubcaps stop rattling, and the wind blows all the dust away; and there, before your eyes, is a complete automobile ready to go! Gas in the tank, tires on, hubcaps on. Key in the ignition, you start it up and you drive away. And not only that, it can reproduce itself.

Well, of course, we remember the Love Bug in 1978, that movie with Herbie the Love Bug, it’s possible in Hollywood, but it ain’t happening in real life!

Genesis 2:7: “Then the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being”—soul!

So, life demands a Life-giver! There just appears to be no other way.

  1. LAWS DEMAND A LAW-GIVER

The world operates in an orderly manner, because Psa. 90 talks just about that. It acts according to laws. For instance, our lifespans, our physical lives only go so far, and then the big sleep comes.

Psalm 90:10: “The days of our years are threescore years and ten... [then you’re living on borrowed time] ...and if by reason of strength they are fourscore years...”—we die! That is the case here.

I have an old booklet given to me by a friend. It’s called The John G. Lake Sermons. All of his knowledge is in here, and his sermons are kind of interesting. He died in 1935, and probably most of you don’t remember him. He was big time in the early 1900s.

All these old-time Protestant evangelists get that same look in their eyes. You look at them, it’s like staring at an owl. You’ve got these eyes that just look right into your soul. But he claims here there was a man of an extremely long life by the name of Fred Parr. And on account of his great age, some of the royalty got a hold of him: he was 152 years old when he died. They said, ‘Bring that boy in. We want to talk to him,’ and they did.

Then they took him away from his rural life and his plain diet, and they wined him and dined him, and in two days he was dead. John G. says, they die because there’s a law of death! This body is doomed to die by that law of death! We call it ‘the law of sin and death.’ That idea is certainly there. it happens.

We have the laws like gravity and centrifugal force. We have the expansion and contraction of metals and fluids and gases according to temperature; they expand or decrease according to temperature. It’s a law. They’re in all of our thermostats, on our cars, or even on our walls, the same idea.

Then there’s the law of the fixicity of species! There seems to exist a limit to the amount of variation that can happen within species. You can come cross a horse with a donkey and get a mule, but they die out. The same with a beef with a buffalo. You get a beefalo, and then they die out, as well.

You don’t get new species coming along. Darwin speculated that this could happen and whole new species could show up. Well, it didn’t happen then, and it still doesn’t!

Now, with genetic tinkering, they’re probably messing where they should not be messing. Could this have happened prior to the Flood? Many claim, yes! We’ll see; we’ll wait and wait on that one. But:

  • horses are horses

  • cows are cows

and they’re still the same! Why is there fixicity of species?

Genesis 1:11: “And God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth vegetation—the herb yielding seed and the fruit tree producing fruit after its kind, whose seed is in itself—upon the earth.’ And it was so. And the earth brought forth vegetation—the herb yielding seed after its kind...” (vs 11-12).

Verse 21: “And God created great sea-animals, and every living creature that moves with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged fowl after its kind....”

Verse 24: “And God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind...’”

Is there not a law here? They’re not messing around like that.

Job 28 talks about that. The Bible refers to the real God as the Lawgiver.

  • the Lord is our Judge

  • the Lord is our Lawgiver

Job 28:24: “For He looks to the end of the earth, and sees under the whole heavens; He endowed the winds with weight, and gauged the waters by measure. When He made a decree for the rain, and a path for the thunderstorm; then He saw it, and declared it; He prepared it, yea, and searched it out” (vs 24-27). That’s where it come from!

James 4:12: “But there is only one Lawgiver, Who has power to save and to destroy....”

How about the Ten Commandments of Exo. 20 and Deut. 5? There are spiritual laws that work. You’re blessed for obedience, and cursed for disobedience. And it’s the same with Lev. 26, and Deut. 28. Laws demand a Lawgiver!

  1. DESIGN REQUIRES A DESIGNER

It just does! Look at the design of a great wide world. David said:

Psalms 139:14: “I will praise You, for I am awesomely and wonderfully made; Your works are marvelous...”

Brethren, when one goes out in the forest or the bush and walks around, and you see in the spring when everything coming back to life: How can you say there’s no God? It just doesn’t work!

Wonderful and marvelous are Your works. Many scientists acknowledge the anthropic principle that for life to exist, all the conditions had to be pre-planned from the very beginning of the cosmos!

Genesis 1:26: “And God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of heaven and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that crawls upon the earth.’ And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him. He created them male and female. And God blessed them. And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of heaven and over every living thing that moves upon the earth’” (vs 26-28)—everything!

That is the case that it is, with design and dominion over all animals. And almost all animals can be domesticated by love, affirmation, affection, and attention! Maybe a little discipline now and again. It works on men and women. All these critters were created for the ultimate purpose of serving mankind, and the Family of God. Because in 1-John we see more here on the Family of God:

1-John 3:1: “Behold! What glorious love the Father has given to us, that we should be called the children of God! For this very reason, the world does not know us because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are the children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be; but we know that when He is manifested, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him exactly as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, even as He is pure” (vs 1-3).

So, rulership on earth—Revelation 5:10: “And did make us unto our God kings and priests; and we shall reign on the earth.”—rulership, future!

All this purposeful design requires a supernatural Designer. Design requires a great Designer.

  1. FULFILLED PROPHECY

In 600BC, there were two Phoenician cities of Tyre and Sidon, and Sidon, for instance, was promised to have a bloody future, but to continue to exist.

Ezekiel 28:4: “And they shall destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers. I will also scrape her dust from off her and make her like a bare rock”—never to be rebuilt!

Ezekiel 26:3: “Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, ‘Behold, I am against you, O Tyre, and will cause many nations to come up against you, as the sea causes its waves to come up. And they shall destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers. I will also scrape her dust from off her and make her like a bare rock. It shall be a place for the spreading of nets in the middle of the sea. For I have spoken it,’ says the Lord GOD. ‘And it shall become a spoil to the nations’” (vs 3-5).

Well, that came to be, and never to be rebuilt, it was a place to have fishing and nets would be thrown there.

But the real God predicts the future and brings it to pass!

Isaiah 46:11: “...Yea, I have spoken, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it. Even over the centuries!

Prophecies concerning the birth, the life, the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ were prophesied centuries before the event.

Isaiah 7:14: “Therefore, the LORD Himself shall give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel.” That was seven centuries before Christ!

Micah 5:2—born in Bethlehem and He would have to flee to Egypt, God says: “And you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, you being least among the thousands of Judah, out of you He shall come forth to Me, that is to become Ruler in Israel. He Whose goings forth have been from of old, from the days of eternity.”

Hosea 11:1: “When Israel was a child, then I loved him and called My Son out of Egypt.”

The key to understanding prophecy is to understand the identity of the modern Israelite nations from the twelve sons of Israel. Like, we know that we are of the twelve tribes of Israel. They had twelve sons, and we are some of those tribes today. That’s fulfilled prophecy!

This, of course, was poo-pooed in Worldwide back in 95 by one of the pastors, and he said, ‘It’s all bunk.’ Well, that was the last service we attended with Worldwide. But anyway, who could overlook Dan. 12, prophecy coming to be?

Daniel 12:4: “But you, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, even to the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”

Is that not coming to be? With Internet, it’s increasing and doubling like every day almost. More knowledge is being added to the Internet every day. Contrast that to 80 years ago. If you’re lucky, you had a big box of encyclopedias, and if you wanted to upgrade it, after a number of years, you had to buy another box of encyclopedias, and they weighed about 100 lbs. They were good, but not like our Internet today.

So fulfilled prophecy demands a God!

  1. ANSWERED PRAYER

1-Kings 3—Solomon’s request for wisdom was granted, and even additional blessings were heaped upon him

1-Kings 3:9—this is the prayer of Solomon: “Now, therefore, give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, to discern between good and evil, for who is able to judge this, Your great people?”

  • Was Solomon granted wisdom? Well, absolutely he was!

  • Was he granted great wisdom? Yes, he was the richest man in the world!

God fulfilled that! God answered prayer!

Malachi 3:6: “For I am the LORD, I change not....”

So, if prayers got answered for Solomon back then, and dozens of other examples, why not today?

As it turned out, we were having supper with a little community group in a little town close to here. And I got sitting with a young guy, we’ll call him George—not his real name—39-years-old, very active in his church. He’s got a lovely young wife and five little kids, and they’re homeschoolers and everything. I got talking to him about cars and things. He said, ‘I got a Dodge van that’s ‘just breaking me financially. The heater quit; I took it right to Dodge; warranty is expired; fix it.’ They did, and I picked it up.’ How much? Pushing $3,000. He was blown away.

Anyway, he paid it. A little later on, his air conditioning and his defrost quit. So he went back and he said, ‘Guys, this worked before I came in, now it doesn’t; is there any connection? They said, ‘It wasn’t us.’ Well, how much to fix it? $2,500 to $3,000!

He said, ‘I’m going to have to think on it. So as it turned out, he was at a wedding shortly thereafter and his pastor and his pastor was there and he got talking to him about this situation. He says, ‘I have dumped so much money in this thing and it’s not working. I can’t sell it. I can’t park it. What am I going to do?’

The pastor said, ‘Why don’t we pray about it?’ They did! And they were going home shortly thereafter and all of a sudden they’re sailing along and said, BANG! a deer jumped out of the grass right into the car’s van and smacked the front end, pulled in the grill, busted the headlights, pulled the fender back a little bit. They skidded to a stop and they got out and they said, ‘Oh, what’s this going to cost?’ Then she looked back and she said, ‘George, the little deer’s in the ditch and it’s still kicking; it’s suffering. Do something!

Well, they walked back and then a truck stopped about the same time. Is there any problem, folks? And she said, ‘Yeah, can you do something? This deer is suffering.’ He said, sure. So he pulled a gun out of the truck and BOOM! and that solved the deer problem.

They pried the fender back up and he went on and took it to the insurance. They looked at it. They wrote the van off. They gave him a cash settlement and it’s out of his life and he bought a Toyota and life is good.

  • Does God answer prayer? Well, obviously He does!

  • In the way that we’d expect it? God works in mysterious ways!

  1. A WAY OF LIFE THAT WORKS

Jesus stated in John 10:10: “...I have come so that they may have life, and may have it more abundantly.”

Was He advocating a better way of life? Brethren, we know the answer is yes!

You look at the social ills:

  • premarital sex

  • teenage pregnancies

  • the morning after pill

  • abortion

  • pride parades

  • shack ups

  • millions not working

  • welfare generation after generation

  • zombies living in the big cities that are shooting up and they’re almost dead

  • the casinos are full and the churches are empty

The Ten Commandments, IF followed, would put a brakes on most all of these problems and these heartaches, because Moses said:

Deuteronomy 30:15: “Behold, I have set before you this day life and good, and death and evil.”

Verse 19: “...I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore, choose life, so that both you and your seed may live.” God’s way works and it brings rewards!

We’ve proven that there is a supreme God and what do we do?

Ecclesiastes 12:13: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His Commandments....”—and it’ll be well for all of us!

So in conclusion, brethren, God exists, and His ways work!
