Book: God’s Bible Pathway For Children

In the morning, the Israelites assembled in the city of Rameses. They left the next night when the Israelites were ready. They started their journey out of Egypt under a full moon with their cattle, sheep and the things they could take that the Egyptians gave them. They were very happy and sang praises to God who set them free after hundreds of years of hard work. God, led the Israelites by night with a pillar of fire and by day with a pillar of cloud.

45-a

The Israelites walked in the wilderness to a place where there was water blocking their way. The water was the Red Sea. The Egyptians then came after the Israelites. The Israelites were trapped and very frightened! Moses called out to the people, “Stand still and see the way God will save you.” God moved the pillar of fire and the cloud between the Israelites and the Egyptians.

God told Moses to stretch out his hand above the water of the sea. God caused a strong east wind to blow all night. The water divided and the ground became dry. The Israelites walked across on dry ground between the walls of water.

46-a

The Egyptians chased after the Israelites to get them to come back as their slaves. The Egyptians went after the Israelites into the sea where it was divided.

God told Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians and upon their chariots and horsemen.”

Moses stretched out his hand and the waters covered the chariots and horsemen. All the Egyptians who followed the Israelites were drowned.
