Dear Brethren,
After being hit with yet another
hurricane, Rita, the nation is once
again reeling from the devastation of
disaster. Now hundreds of thousands of
Americans have lost every thing or
nearly every thing they have and have
been displaced because of these two
hurricanes. Our hearts go out to them
and their families, especially those who
have lost loved ones. It will take a
mammoth effort by governments, business
and individuals to rebuild. The process
will take years to complete. On the
other side of the nation, fires broke
out in California and floods assailed
Kansas. It seems like the hand of God is
heavy upon this nation in His judgments
because of its sins.
As weather and world tragedies continue
to occur, it becomes increasingly
apparent that we may be in the "times of
sorrows" spoken of by Jesus when He told
His disciples about the events of the
end times. We have read and studied
Matthew 24 for years, but when put into
the perspective of the end times, it
gives us a larger perspective of the
events that are taking place in the
world: "And as He was sitting on the
Mount of Olives, His disciples came to
Him alone, saying, 'Tell us, when shall
these things be? And what shall be the sign of Your coming, and of the
completion of the age?' Then Jesus
answered and said to them, "Be on
guard, so that no one deceives you. For
many shall come in My name, saying, 'I
am the Christ'; and they shall deceive
many. And you shall hear of wars and
rumors of wars. See that you do
not let these things disturb you. For it is necessary that all these things take place, but
the end is not yet. For nation shall
rise against nation, and kingdom against
kingdom; and there shall be famines and
pestilences and earthquakes in different places. Now all these things are the
beginning of sorrows" (Matt. 24:3-8).
Jesus did not give us an indication of
how long the time of sorrows would be.
However, as we review past history, it
could endure for years. What transpires
next, is also what has happened in the
past so we can be sure that it will
occur in the future: 'Then shall they
deliver you up to affliction, and shall
kill you; and you shall be hated by all
nations for My name's sake. And then
shall many be led into sin, and shall
betray one another, and shall hate one
another; and many false prophets shall
arise, and shall deceive many; and
because lawlessness shall be multiplied,
the love of many shall grow cold. But
the one who endures to the end, that one shall be saved" (verses
9-13).
Because of whatever path that lies ahead
of us, in order to stand for the truth
of God, we must be strong in the Lord
and faithful. Jesus promised that if we
remain faithful, enduring to the end we
shall be saved. That is a clear,
definite and explicit promise. Jesus
said, "The heaven and the earth shall
pass away, but My words shall never pass
away" (verse 35).
Not only must we watch world events, but
also we need to vigilantly maintain our
spiritual lives—our relationship with
God the Father and Jesus Christ. In
loving God with our hearts, minds, lives
and being, we will be steadfast and
faithful at all times. The apostle John
gives us this encouragement that gives
us hope in times of trouble: "That which
was from the beginning, that
which we have heard, that which we have
seen with our own eyes, that which we
observed for ourselves and our own hands
handled, concerning the Word of life;
(And the life was manifested, and we
have seen, and are bearing witness, and
are reporting to you the eternal life,
which was with the Father, and was
manifested to us;) That which we have
seen and have heard we are reporting to
you in order that you also may have
fellowship with us; for the fellowship—indeed, our fellowship—is with the Father and with His own Son,
Jesus Christ. These things we are also writing to you,
so that your joy may be completely full.
And this is the message that we have
heard from Him and are declaring to you:
that God is light, and there is no
darkness at all in Him. If we proclaim
that we have fellowship with Him, but we
are walking in the darkness, we are
lying to ourselves, and we are not
practicing the Truth. However, if we walk in the light, as He is in the
light, then we have fellowship
with one another, and the blood of Jesus
Christ, His own Son, cleanses us from
every sin" (I John 1:1-7).
We also have the personal promise of
Jesus that He will never leave or
forsake us—after all He lovingly gave
His life to save us: "Do not allow the love of money to influence
your behavior, but be satisfied
with what you have; for He has said, 'In no way will I ever leave you; no—I will never forsake you in any way.' So then, let us boldly say, 'The Lord is my helper, and I will not
be afraid. What can man do to me?'...
Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday, and today, and forever" (Heb.
13:5-8).
With these commitments from God the
Father and Jesus Christ, though we may
be troubled, confronted with disasters
and the sorrows of the end time, we need
not be discouraged or adrift. God will
sustain us with His love, faith and
power. Irregardless of what transpires
our example of Jesus Christ and the
apostle Paul gives us great hope and
encouragement: "What then shall we say
to these things? If God is for
us, who can be against us? He,
Who did not spare even His own Son, but
delivered Him up for us all, how shall
He not also grant us all things together
with Him? Who shall bring an accusation
against the elect of God? God is the one Who justifies. Who is the one that condemns? It is Christ Who died, but rather, Who is
raised again, Who is even now at the right hand of God, and Who is also making intercession for us.
What shall separate us from the love of
Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or
persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or
danger, or sword? Accordingly, it is
written, 'For Your sake we are killed
all the day long; we are reckoned as
sheep for the slaughter.' But in
all these things we are more than
conquerors through Him Who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things
present, nor things to come, Nor height,
nor depth, nor any other created thing,
shall be able to separate us from the
love of God, which is in Christ
Jesus our Lord" (Rom. 8:31-39).
This is what we must focus our minds on
continuously—especially in times of
trouble!
Enclosed are the three charts for the
short series in Daniel: 1) The Reigns of Gentile Kingdoms. 2) The break down of the Seventy Weeks
Prophecy of Daniel 9. 3) The 1150 days of Daniel 8.
We will be sending the overall chart of
Revelation, when we send the first three
tapes. When we send these to you we will
send a list of all the tapes that go
with the series in Revelation. Most of you should have the tapes
already. The final total will be
around 30 tapes and will be one of the
most in depth studies in Revelation we
have ever done.
Steady progress is being made on the
book Occult Holidays or God's Holy Days—Which! Since it covers all the occult holidays
and God's holy days, this book will be
in season all year long. There has never
been a book like this one! Our printing
goal is set for November.
Brethren, this is the last letter we
will send until after the Feast of
Tabernacles. In spite of the troubles we
may face, please have an excellent
Feast! Once again thank you for all your
love, prayers and continued support. May
God bless you with His love, grace and
encouragement in all things.
With love in Christ Jesus,
Fred R. Coulter
